Saudi Arabia Intensifies Crackdown on Unauthorized Hajj Pilgrims-2024!
Introduction
Saudi Arabia has initiated a nationwide crackdown on pilgrims attempting to perform the Hajj without proper authorization. These strict measures, implemented from June 2 onwards, aim to ensure the safety of all pilgrims and maintain order in the holy cities.
Penalties for Unauthorized Pilgrims
- Pilgrims found without a valid permit in Makkah city, central areas, holy sites, and designated areas will face fines of up to SAR10,000 (approximately $2,664) and deportation.
- The regulations will be enforced until June 20, 2024.
Penalties for Transporters
- Transporters of unauthorized pilgrims will also face severe penalties, including imprisonment for up to six months, fines of up to SAR 50,000 ($13,320), and vehicle confiscation.
- Non-citizen offenders will be deported and barred from re-entering the kingdom for a specified period.
Repeat Offender Consequences
- Repeat offenders will face double fines, highlighting the importance of adhering to Hajj regulations.
Reporting Violations
- Pilgrims are urged to report any violations by contacting 911 in Makkah, Riyadh, and Eastern regions, or 999 in other areas.
Purpose of the Crackdown
- The crackdown aims to prevent chaos and ensure a peaceful experience for the estimated 2.5 million pilgrims expected to converge in the holy cities this year.
- By implementing these measures, Saudi Arabia prioritizes the safety and security of all pilgrims, creating an environment conducive to a meaningful and spiritual Hajj experience.
